About the role
The Building and Engineering department are looking for a professional qualified Plumber with a multi-skilled trade background to join our small proactive maintenance team.
You will be delivering a comprehensive, customer focused, cost effective service within both the planned and reactive maintenance service delivery, creating a safe and high quality environment for students, staff and visitors to the University. Working across a diverse range of facilities, buildings and locations with both commercial and domestic systems installed.
You will be undertaking a wide range of mainly plumbing tasks in an effective and timely manner to successfully achieve the Estates Service plan, supporting an efficient operation of the University.
You will be working under the guidance of the Building and Engineering Maintenance Supervisor, as a member of the small flexible and efficient Estates Service team, maintaining and developing processes that provide a safe, effective and efficient service ensuring that customer expectations are managed. Monitoring and maintaining the campus site, identifying defects and faults, assessing and quantifying materials for projects, taking appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the facilities.
Appropriate use of a range of materials, equipment, machinery and PPE, ensuring that current regulations and industry specifications are adhered to. You will be supported in your ability to coordinate and collaborate with team members, undertaking multi-skilled work to achieve joint projects and objectives to meet the changing needs of the service.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours a week on a permanent basis.
A current full driving licence (manual transmission) is essential as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles.This role is also subject to health surveillance with our Occupational Health team.
Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.
