The School of Biological and Marine Sciences at the University of Plymouth is looking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated academic leader to contribute to its growth in the area of Agricultural Biotechnology. In the first 2.5-3 years a significant part of this role (0.5 FTE) will be dedicated to leading the University's industrial collaboration opportunities. The successful individual will identify and develop relationships with external commercial partners and the University, and be the key point of liaison with other academic collaborators. For the remaining 0.5FTE we are seeking an experienced and inspirational leader for our current research and teaching interests in this area. Key responsibilities in the short term will be in the areas of research mentorship and leadership, contributing to research strategy (including REF planning) as well as to curriculum development and delivery in this area.
You will have a sustained track record of world-class research in the area of Agricultural Biotechnology or a related area. As a particular focus of this post will be in establishing successful relationships with the industrial/commercial sectors, you will bring substantial successful experience in initiatives such as knowledge transfer, industrial partnerships (e.g. Innovate UK), and similar. You will in addition be able to demonstrate a talent and enthusiasm for academic leadership across a range of projects and initiatives.
We expect to hold the interviews in early June 2017. For any informal enquiries, please contact Dr Mairi Knight, Head of the School of Biological and Marine Sciences (mairi.knight@plymouth.ac.uk).
