We are looking to appoint a talented academic to join the Nursing & Midwifery Team. You will be a registered nurse or midwife but other related disciplines will be considered. You will identify and lead research, building on the opportunities and reputations of our existing clusters, and expecting to be submitted to REF2021.
Our vision is to provide first class contemporary education, informed by research and innovation, so we expect the research to inform and work with our teaching staff. This might include being able to show students work in clinical quality improvement or involve students in contact with research with patient groups. Plymouth University offers the largest range of healthcare programmes in the South West, so there is scope for your research to link with high quality undergraduate, postgraduate and other research programmes in all disciplines.
Our research is applied, aiming to benefit the region while being of international standing. We have an unusual innovative engagement with research focussed academic units embedded in local NHS Trusts co-producing clinical research, promoting inter-professional working, and embedding evidence based learning in practice. We also have strong links through e-health research with health and care providers, patient groups, and the business sector.
You will have a doctorate degree in a relevant field, and substantial experience at Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer/Reader) or equivalent level. You will have a track record of attracting significant research funding and being able to deliver internationally esteemed research output, evidenced through publication and other indicators.
For an informal discussion please contact Professor Jill Shawe Director of The Institute of Health and Community; Associate Head of School (Research) email: jill.shawe@plymouth.ac.uk or tel: +44 (0) 1872 256467.
This vacancy will involve working with children and/or vulnerable adults and any appointment will be subject to receipt of clearance for the Protection of Children from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
