We are currently recruiting for a Senior Cleaner at Plymouth University. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering a high quality environment across a diverse range of university facilities and providing supervisory support to the Cleaning Supervisor. Senior Cleaners deputise for the Cleaning Supervisor during any period of absence.
Through your activities each individual contributes to a positive student experience, supporting students throughout their journey, from enquiry to alumni, providing a culture that engages students as genuine partners with Plymouth University.
Flexible and adaptable in a changing environment, you may be assigned to other areas of the University to meet the needs of the service; this will in turn provide developmental opportunities in which to broaden your experience.
You will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning or equivalent (or willingness to achieve), have a reasonable degree of physical fitness and the ability to move, lift and carry equipment, supplies and waste bags will be required. You will have effective communication and computer skills. Previous supervisory experience within a cleaning role (or similar) and customer service experience within a busy environment where deadlines and logistical challenges must be met on a daily basis would be an advantage. A working knowledge of health and safety, manual handling and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) would also be advantageous.
You may be required to work anywhere within the Plymouth University campus. Plymouth University is based across a number of locations in Plymouth. Predominantly the majority of cleaning posts are on the main city centre campus. In general terms the post holder will carry out cleaning tasks and supervise weekend cleaning staff working in 24/7 buildings.
There is a Senior Cleaner vacancy, working Saturday and Sunday afternoons for 2.5 hrs per day, 5 hrs per weekend. Working hours 1400-1630, subject to the business need. The post is a Term Time Only position, between September and May (40 weeks). Pay is at an enhanced rate and there is no entitlement to annual leave or public holidays.
