Criminology at University of Plymouth is widely known for its innovative and ambitious teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as high quality research which is at the forefront of the discipline. Our aim of becoming a high-quality and well-established national and international presence in criminology is evidenced by our exciting and dynamic conference programme and the rapid expansion of our research networks. We hope that you will bring an enthusiasm for research and teaching that complements the critical perspectives employed by the existing staff group, as well as contributing to one or more areas that will help us develop our research themes - Crime, Culture and Society; Governance, Policing and Penality; and Vulnerability, Criminalisation and Inequality. While we are open to applications in any area of expertise within criminology, we particularly welcome applications from those with a demonstrable research and teaching expertise in any of the following areas: green criminology, media and crime, prisons and penality and innovative research methods (especially quantitative methods). Additionally, it would be beneficial if your research and teaching comprised a comparative or international perspective. In return for your commitment to our vision for Plymouth Criminology, you will benefit by joining a supportive team which will help you develop as an academic.
You will hold a PhD in Criminology or a related discipline (completed or near to completion). Evidence ability and desire to produce internationally recognised research, and have a research plan which complements and expands the expertise of the subject group in the School. In addition, the ability to deliver high quality and innovative teaching across a range of platforms is a must.
