The Sustainability Hub: Low Carbon Devon project will provide an exciting new catalyst for low-carbon economic growth in Devon. The -5 year, £2.6m programme (supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) will enable Devon-based organisations to access research, business support, and engage with the University of Plymouth around the low-carbon agenda. The project will be delivered through the following 4 interlinked activities:
Sustainability Hub Refurbishment: To refurbish a building on University of Plymouth campus that will provide a physical space where businesses, social enterprises and community groups can mix with researchers and students around the issue of sustainability. More information here.
Low Carbon Research and Innovation: To support research, innovation and growth within the following sectors in Devon:
Green wall and roof sector Power Electronics (PV & LEDs) Creative Industry sector Energy Behaviour Change in buildings
Carbon Reduction Project: To bring significant energy savings through delivering an LED lighting retrofit programme in various University buildings.
Knowledge Exchange: To support interaction between the University of Plymouth and local Devon-based enterprises through knowledge exchange events, low-carbon internships, and research collaborations across the whole low carbon sector.
The Marketing and Events Officer post for the Low Carbon Devon project is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and cutting edge University and really make a difference in Devon. The post will involve working with innovative businesses, world-leading academics, enthusiastic students, dedicated community groups and passionate social enterprises.
Some key duties include:
You must have practical marketing and communication experience and a keen interest in supporting a shift to a low carbon economy. You must also have experience of event organisation and delivery to deadlines as well as the development of web and social media activities.

The hours for this position are between 22 to 37 hours per week and you will be appointed on a fixed-term basis until 30th November 2022 due to funding. The anticipated start date is 1st September 2020. Please note that this position requires engagement with various stakeholders across Devon and so the exact start date may vary depending on the social distancing impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
