Senior Technician (Screen Print)
Description
The Faculty of Arts & Humanities has a vacancy for a Senior Technician with significant Screen Printing experience in managing and running a Screen Print workshop.
A working knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator is desirable.
Our highly skilled and dedicated team of specialist technicians support the teaching, learning
and research of the Faculty across a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate disciplines. They perform an essential role in maintaining and developing our screen print workshop provision, as well as in ensuring that health and safety procedures are implicitly followed. They are passionate about knowledge sharing with others, and explicitly focussed on helping students to develop, extend their ideas and to explore fully their creative potential.
You will preferably be an arts graduate. It is essential that you have a creative screen print background and experience. You will be directly responsible screen print-based processes and procedures which include: photographic, water-based screen printing onto papers, fabrics and ceramics transfers and for the running and associated maintenance of the screen print workshop on Friday of each week. You will be required to work collaboratively with the screen print senior technician who works Monday to Thursday.
You will be required to order and manage stock materials, produce workshop resources/guidance for Moodle (VLE) and therefore must be numerate, literate and accurate with English.
Additionally, the role will directly support other colleagues within and outside of the Faculty in the preparation of materials in other Faculty workshops, as well as in supporting students and staff in Faculty shows and exhibitions.
Furthermore, in addition to the main Senior Technician role, there will also be an opportunity, dependent upon training, for you to undertake workshop demonstrations.
This is a part time post working 7.4 hours per week (Friday's), 40 weeks per year on a permanent basis. Please note this position is not available for job share.
