The Faculty of Arts & Humanities has a vacancy for a Senior Technician (Digital Art & Technology) with significant experience within the Digital Art & Technology field, and current digital knowledge and experience to work within our busy faculty.
Our highly skilled and dedicated team of specialist technicians support the teaching, learning and research of the faculty across a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate disciplines. They perform an essential role maintaining and developing our resources, as well as ensuring that health and safety procedures are implicitly followed. They are passionate about knowledge sharing with others, and explicitly focused on helping students to develop, extend their ideas and to explore fully their creative potential.
You will provide technical support for staff and students within the Faculty primarily for digital learning. You will be required to produce workshop resources/guidance and therefore must be numerate, literate and accurate with English.
Additionally, you will directly support other staff colleagues within the university in the preparation of work, as well as in supporting students and staff in Faculty shows and exhibitions. You will predominantly be based on the Plymouth Campus but you may be required to work on other sites.
You will be required to have the following:
* HND or equivalent in a relevant subject area* Competence and knowledge of relevant industry software* The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues to facilitate the educational environment* Current skills within the area of 3D printing, small scale CNC, laser cutting machinery and some basic electronic skills,
and the following are desirable:
* Relevant experience to support our Immersive Vision Theatre (IVT) area* Previous experience of working in HE.
Furthermore, in addition to the main Technician role, there will also be an opportunity for you to undertake workshop demonstrations for which it would be expected that you either hold, or will work towards a recognised HE teaching qualification or accreditation.
This is a Part Time position working 18.5 hours per week on a Permanent contract.
