We are seeking a dynamic Research Fellow to join the Plymouth arm of a national consortium of researchers, communities and other food system partners to complete a five year funded project entitled “Co-production of healthy, sustainable food systems for disadvantaged communities”. This exciting project is funded by the UKRI ‘Transforming the Food System’ Strategic Priorities fund. It is being led by the University of Reading and involves academics from Sussex, Kent and Cranfield Universities. You will be part of the School of Health Professions at the University of Plymouth, England.
As part of the team you will support the principal investigator (PI) (Dr Clare Pettinger) to deliver the Plymouth workpackage. This will include a diverse range of research, engagement and knowledge exchange activities that fall within the remit of Public Health Nutrition and community co-production methodologies. The role can initially be delivered virtually but once the COVID era has passed, it will be essential to be located in or around Plymouth, which will be the geographical focus of the workpackage, although some travel to other research locations may be required within the 5 year period.
Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals with a PhD or equivalent, with a passion for public health nutrition, food system transformation and co-production methodologies. You will have extensive quantitative and qualitative research experience in public health nutrition (and preferably be registered as a dietitian or nutritionist). You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be pro-active in self-management, with an aptitude for independent working. You will be able to effectively network and engage across multi-sector and complex transdisciplinary research teams. You will have experience working with diverse community groups, showing compassion and ethical awareness, and be adaptable to using innovative creative qualitative methodologies that foster a co-production philosophy. Project outputs are expected to lead to peer review publication and this position will offer ample opportunity to extend research experience and methodological skills.

This is a part-time position working 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE/2.5 day per week) on a fixed term basis for a period of 5 years due to funding. Flexible working options are available to deliver this contract.

A current full driving licence and willingness to travel is desirable as you will be required to travel to locations not easily accessible using public transport.
