A vacancy has arisen within Estates and Facilities for a full time Security Officer for a fixed term period until July 2018.
You will carry out a wide range of duties including patrolling, access control, CCTV surveillance, fire monitoring, and campus safety along with the use of both University and Police radios. The post is shift work via a randomised rota, covering 24 hours a day, 365 days per year including Bank Holidays. A uniform is provided.
Experience of working in the security industry or a security related environment. Qualifications should be numeracy and literacy at secondary education level (or demonstrable equivalent). You will need to demonstrate a high level of competency with the use of computers to include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels and compile accurate reports is essential to the post.
You will be part of team however you will need to be a quick thinker, often in difficult situations and accept the risk associated with this type of work.
Honesty, integrity, reliability and self-discipline are essential qualities. Due to the nature of the work, you must be in good health and physically fit, appointment will be subject to satisfactory medical screening.
You will be required to hold or to gain an SIA Door Supervisors Licence and be capable of passing Non-Police Personnel Vetting. A current full driving licence is essential (manual).
Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required for this position.
