This is an exciting new role to deliver high quality travel/tourism content at the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership, one of the country’s leading Community Rail Partnerships.
Creating eye-catching and informative blog posts, photos, videos and campaigns, you will inspire even more people to travel on the local rail network. A big focus will be on promoting travel on the counties’ scenic branch lines. These serve destinations including St Ives, Looe, the Tamar Valley and North Devon. Another huge opportunity will be to help promote the upcoming reopening of the Dartmoor Line between Okehampton and Exeter.
In this specialist digital marketing role you will help manage the Partnership’s presence on Facebook and Instagram (both @greatscenicrailways), Twitter (@dcrailpart) and YouTube, spanning both organic and paid-for campaigns. You will also help enhance the Partnership’s pair of websites www.greatscenicrailways.co.uk and www.dcrp.org.uk by devising and creating attractive new content.
You will join the Partnership’s small but nationally award-winning team. Founded in 1991, the Partnership brings together local authorities, the rail industry and the University. It not only promotes rail travel, but also seeks improvements to services and facilities. It works to boost the local economy of the places served by the railway. And it helps to link the community and railway, including through encouraging volunteering and working with schools and young people.
The post would suit a candidate with a flair for digital communication, the ability to take good photos, a strong interest in travel, a passion for the South West and an appreciation of the benefits that public transport brings to society, the economy and the environment.
The role will involve much travel in Devon and Cornwall for which a duty rail pass will be provided. In addition to their other responsibilities, you will have a roving brief to be out and about collecting information, photography and videos for use online and in other promotional activity. Driving licence desirable.
When not out on location, the role will be a mix of home-based and based at the Partnership’s office on the University of Plymouth’s main campus. This balance can be flexible for the right candidate.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the job description in your supporting statement.
