Plymouth Science Park
Plymouth Science Park was established in 1996 by the University of Plymouth and Plymouth City Council, who are the joint venture owners. It is the largest Science and Technology centre in the South-West delivering world-class research, laboratory and office space. . The Park has grown to support some 120 businesses and is ready to commence its next exciting stage of development to realise its full potential.
The primary objective of the Science Park is to support the University, and in so doing the City, to further its aims and reputation with respect to science, innovation and commercialisation.
The Role
We are seeking an innovative and pragmatic individual to develop and deliver a refreshed strategic vision to drive the Science Park forwards. Working closely with the Board and relevant stakeholders, you will use your previous expertise to take the Park into its next exciting phase.
The Person
A self-starter and highly motivated individual, you will have excellent commercial and financial acumen skills and the ability to influence and negotiate. A superb communicator you will be comfortable working with researchers and scientists and able to act as a knowledge broker between the science base and industry, in partnership with the University's Research and Innovation services. Ideally, you will have some understanding of current technology trends.
You will have a relevant science or technology educational background, at least to degree level, and have experience of working with businesses and organisations in both the private and public sectors, understanding their diverse challenges and needs.
You will need to have a genuine passion for science and innovation and strong ambassadorial skills to raise the profile and reputation of the Science Park in the region and beyond in support of the University and the City.
Experience of building and/or managing commercial property would be beneficial, as would experience in marketing.
Flexibility for UK, and potentially international, travel will be required.

Timetable

Following a long-list meeting, successful candidates will be invited for a preliminary telephone call on 12 June.
Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to meet with key stakeholders in Plymouth in during w/c 26 June or w/c 3 July.
Interviews will take place on 13 July 2017.
