The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics, which is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow of Quantum Electrodynamics in Intense Fields.
The Strong-Field QED group presently comprises four faculty researchers (Dr Ben King, Dr Thomas Heinzl, Professor David McMullan, Dr Martin Lavelle), a Marie Curie Research Fellow (Dr Anton Ilderton) and three PhD students. The group specialises in calculating particle physics processes in strong laser fields and studying aspects of quantum field theory in intense electromagnetic backgrounds.
Candidates are required to have a PhD in physics or a related discipline, a strong research track record in quantum field theory and ideally some experience in calculating QED processes in intense fields.
