University of Plymouth, among the highest-ranked modern higher education institutions in the world, is seeking to appoint a Fire and Safety Advisor.
Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, you will lead on developing fire safety related policies, codes of practice and standards, providing advice, ensuring that fire risk assessments are delivered, facilitating fire drills and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), inspecting, auditing and training staff at all levels.
You will also contribute to the general work of the Health and Safety Department. Supporting the Head of Health and Safety to deliver their general health and safety portfolio which may include delivering training for general health and safety related topics as well as attending University Faculty / School Safety Committee meetings and review of general health and safety policies and codes of practice.
You will be a highly motivated individual, demonstrating a high level of fire safety management competency. You will hold membership of a relevant professional organisation e.g. FPO, FSM, IFE and IOSH desirable. You will have previous experience of managing fire safety in a large organisation.
This is a Full Time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.
