The Atlantic Project is a pilot for a new international festival of contemporary art in the South West of England, taking place in public contexts and outdoor locations across Plymouth from 28 September - 21 October 2018. Curated by Tom Trevor (Artistic Director), the project has been developed as a partnership between Plymouth Museums Galleries Archives (The Box) and the University of Plymouth, in the lead-up to Mayflower 400 in 2020, hosted by Peninsula Arts. The Atlantic Project in 2018 is part of Horizon, a two-year visual arts development programme across the city, led by Plymouth Culture, with funding from Arts Council England and Plymouth City Council.
As well as trialling an internationally significant event that will raise the critical profile of visual arts in Plymouth and the region, the Atlantic Project will be a highly engaging experience for a wide range of audiences that is relevant and distinctive to the locality. As well as presenting site-specific works in the public realm by artists of international renown, the project will aim to develop as an open platform for artist-led activities, with a strong emphasis upon talent development and community engagement.
Under the guidance of the Artistic Director, and working in close collaboration with the existing Producer, the Producer is responsible for co-ordinating project activities to enable the delivery of the Atlantic Project programme, including: liaising with artists and planning the production of artworks, liaising with sites, planning and delivering the installation of art works, planning and management of events, planning and managing invigilation and maintenance of exhibited works, managing the production budget and financial reporting, and assisting in the development of the talent development and community engagement programmes.
You should be able to demonstrate that they have previous experience of producing contemporary art projects and delivering site-specific installations in the public realm, as well as managing production budgets, financial reporting and administration within an arts environment (and ideally within a university context too).
This is a fixed term contract for 6 months working 29 hours per week May to July, moving to 37 hours per week August to October due to funding.
