We are recruiting for an innovative Multi-faith Pastoral and Spiritual Care Co-ordinator to promote fresh and innovative ways to provide spiritual and pastoral care for those with faith and for those with none.
This role is rewarding and varied, encompassing re-shaping the direction of the Multi-faith Pastoral and Spiritual Support Service, developing strategies for student engagement and for the use of the Multi-faith Pastoral and Spiritual Support Service premises.
The Multi-faith Pastoral and Spiritual Care Co-ordinator supports staff and students in the following areas:
The new Pastoral and Spiritual Care Coordinator will take the initiative and be willing to seek, visit and develop contacts throughout the University. You will manage a team of Chaplains and volunteers, ensuring that the team is supported and aware of their responsibilities as part of the university.
You will have experience of delivering pastoral and spiritual care and be sensitive to the needs of a broad range of students and staff.
You will have developed and monitored service delivery standards, evaluating outputs and outcomes and identifying ways to improve service delivery and will have successfully managed change involving people and processes, including designing and implementing new processes, and supporting staff through change. You will have line management experience.
You will have a relevant professional qualification either faith-based or in a related social care or pastoral field and be passionate about ensuring equality and diversity as it relates to your role.
You will contribute to the development of wellbeing services for students whilst working closely with other Professional Services, Academic Departments, the Students’ Union and community based agencies.

You’ll be an excellent team player, working sometimes with staff outside of your own area of responsibility or expertise and will be comfortable working under pressure
Be part of a transformation of the student experience at the University of Plymouth. The past 18 months have seen the University redesign our student support and administration services, through creating a new ‘Academic Registry’ department. This is a full time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.
