We are seeking a Research Fellow in Data Science to support the development of original statistical and data science methodologies, analytical and computational tools to extract knowledge from complex big data for the Impact Lab project.
The Impact Lab is a GBP 6.4m part-funded ERDF project delivered by the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth with the Met Office, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Rothamsted Research, Plymouth College of Art and Exeter City Futures. Impact Lab will bring SMEs and individual innovators together with researchers to analyse data, and create newproducts and services focusing on safeguarding the environment. The Impact Lab provides research expertise in statistics, data science, high performance computing, data visualisation and innovation to support SME's with the co-creation of products and services.
You will be required to develop methodology, implement algorithms, produce scientific results, support teaching and collaborate with all the key stakeholders.
You will be working on part of the core research and development programme primarily developing innovative analytics methods to model high-dimensional data and carry out data engineering, analyses and key visualisations using data science and machine learning approaches.
The role will require you to work collaboratively with researchers from Big Data group and the Sustainable Earth Institute as well as Impact Lab partners and eligible SME's and external bodies involved in the research.
The Environmental Futures and Impact Lab project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 2 years due to funding.
