The Research and Innovation Directorate plays a crucial role in supporting the University to secure funding for research across a diverse range of disciplines from the creative arts to medicine. We work closely with academics and support the creation of impactful relationships between them and external organisations.
Working in the Research and Commercialisation Office within the Directorate, this role reflects the University's increased focus on maximising research income and is fundamental to achieving our ambitious objective to drive a real step change in the scale of funding the University secures for its research, across all Faculties.
This role has a particular focus on a range of research funding sources including UK Research and Innovation, European Framework Programmes, various charities and trusts and other national and international research funders. The role sits within a wider team that also targets non-traditional forms of funding and supports the commercialisation of Intellectual Property.
We are looking for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team with a demonstrable track record of working on successful funding applications, particularly in a Higher Education context. Experience of the development of collaborative applications involving internal and external partners and stakeholders is desirable.
You will ideally have a background in Higher Education or Research Councils, although wider experience will be considered, and a demonstrable ability to engage partners from a range of different sectors.
Exceptional communication skills are also essential, in particular the ability to take complex ideas and information and present them in a way that is accessible and exciting for different audiences.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Dan Godfrey, Senior Research Funding Manager by email dan.godfrey@plymouth.ac.uk or telephone 01752 588338.
Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 10th February 2020.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week, and is fixed-term to cover a period of maternity leave which is anticipated to be for approximately 12 months.
