The Role:
In recent years, all universities have experienced radical changes in the external operating environment. At Plymouth, we have recognized the critical importance of clear strategy, effective planning and high quality data in enabling us to adapt and remain competitive in this rapidly shifting landscape. The Planning & Analytics Office (PAO) enables the University to formulate, implement and evaluate its strategy by informing strategic decisions, advising on strategic actions, and enabling strategic planning and change. PAO provides critical, foundational services for a data-driven, strategy-led and collaborative culture at the University.
To help us respond to the challenges and remain competitive, PAO are looking to expand the market insight function to develop a leading-edge approach to market insight in the Higher Education sector, working within a wider team of strategists, planners, horizon scanners and data analysts.
The Person:
The Market Insight Manager is responsible for driving a leading-edge market insight function, covering markets, competitors, applicants and students, to inform University strategy, marketing and recruitment activity.
The role holder will draw on multiple sources (both external and internal) and analyse, interpret and advise on implications for institutional market positioning and development. The role holder will work collaboratively with senior stakeholders across the University to generate, and where appropriate implement, actionable recommendations. The role holder will be responsible for:
* developing new and enhanced market, competitor and applicant insight (derived from new segmentations and targeting tools), working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to optimise the University's core undergraduate student recruitment activity and support growth in critical postgraduate and international markets;* providing expert insight into Higher Education markets, competitors, applicants and students, and expert advice on the implications for overall University strategy development and implementation;* playing a key insight and advisory role in the development of a competitive academic portfolio;* leading the University's market insight team to deliver an effective and flexible service.
