The Sustainability Hub: Low Carbon Devon (LCD) project will provide an exciting new catalyst for low-carbon economic growth in Devon. The -5 year, £2.6m programme (supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) will enable Devon-based organisations to access research, business support, and engage with the University of Plymouth around the low-carbon agenda. The Industrial Research Fellow – Power Electronics post for the LCD project is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and cutting edge University and really make a difference in Devon. The post will involve working with Devon companies, world-leading academics, enthusiastic students, dedicated community groups and passionate social enterprises. The post will support Devon companies looking to develop or commercialise new/innovative Photovoltaic, LED or other low carbon power electronic technologies.

You must have some knowledge of academic research methods, power electronics and a keen interest in the low carbon agenda. You must also have the ability to organise workshops, be able to network with a variety of stakeholders and ideally experience of working with business/social enterprises.

The hours for this position are between 18.5 to 37 hours per week and you will be appointed on a fixed-term basis due to funding. The duration of the contract will be for a period of 18 months if appointed to full-time hours (37 hours per week) or longer if appointed to part-time hours. The anticipated start date is 1st September 2020. Please note that this position requires engagement with various stakeholders across Devon and so the exact start date may vary depending on the social distancing impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
A current full driving licence and willingness to travel is essential as you will be required to travel to remote areas not easily accessible by public transport.
