AiPBAND (An Integrated Platform for Developing Brain Cancer Diagnostics Techniques) is an Innovative Training Network (ITN) funded under the EU H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions to train fourteen Early Stage Researchers (ESRs). It brings together leading academic and industrial experts in Europe and China, and build a triple-i (interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international) research & training platform with the required multidisciplinary expertise and cutting-edge technologies.
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed candidate to participate in this innovative research and training programme. The ESR will be one of the fourteen ESRs in the AiPBAND network. Here at Plymouth we have one of only four Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence in the UK, supported by the charity Brain Tumour Research. The aim of this ESR project is to develop and apply new statistical and machine learning models to analyse omics and epigenetics data for biomarker discovery. You will be working together with other researchers, have a number of secondment opportunities with partner institutions and attend a series of training events of the AiPBAND network. You will also be expected to register as a staff candidate PhD student at the University of Plymouth on satisfying the enrolment criteria of the Doctoral College.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed term contract of three years starting 1st June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Requirement & eligibility:
Qualifications First degree with a minimum of 2.1 honors in a relevant field (Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines). A Master degree or PhD level research experience would be particularly welcome.
Mobility rule at the time of recruitment, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organisation (UK) for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
Early stage researcher rule Candidates for ESR positions are expected to have less than 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience at the selection time and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
