The Sustainability Hub: Low Carbon Devon (LCD) project will provide an exciting new catalyst for low-carbon economic growth in Devon. The -5 year, £2.6m programme (supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) will enable Devon-based organisations to access research, business support, and engage with the University of Plymouth around the low-carbon agenda. The Industrial Research Fellow – Green Wall post for the LCD project is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and cutting edge University and really make a difference in Devon. The post will involve working with Devon companies, world-leading academics, enthusiastic students, dedicated community groups and passionate social enterprises. The post will seek to optimise the growing and thermal performance, effectiveness and viability of green walls in sustainable building design and also bring together, share information and best practice across the sector in Devon.
Some key duties include:
You must have some knowledge of academic research methods, Environmental Sciences, biophilic building design, building surveying/monitoring or related field of study and a keen interest in the low carbon agenda. You must also have the ability to organise workshops, be able to network with a variety of stakeholders and ideally experience of working with business/social enterprises.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed term basis for a period of 18 months years due to funding. The anticipated start date is 1st September 2020. Please note that this position requires engagement with various stakeholders across Devon and so the exact start date may vary depending on the social distancing impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
A current full driving licence and willingness to travel is essential as you will be required to travel to remote areas not easily accessible by public transport.
