University of Plymouth Enterprise Limited (UoPEL) is very excited to be working on the UAEOcean project funded by the government of the United Arab Emirates. The goal of the project is to develop an Ocean Monitoring and Forecasting centre in the United Arab Emirates based on the latest technology in ocean modelling. To ensure the project is a success, UoPEL is seeking to appoint a software developer or associate software developer to contribute to the development of advanced NEMO ocean models and related software products. Other aspects of the project include the development, validation and delivery of a set of numerical oceanographic and wave models, post-processing tools, computer middleware, end-user applications and extensive training of UAE staff.
If you are keen to participate in a project and contribute to the development and delivery of comprehensive, customer focused, integrated, cost effective and progressive end-user software solutions for the new Ocean Forecasting Centre in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), then this is the perfect role for you. You will also be expected to contribute to the on-the-job training of customer staff as well the wider University agenda.
You will work within a small software development team and develop and maintain collaborations with external bodies - the customer and the project partners. You will proactively contribute to the training of customer staff to engender the effective sharing of knowledge, develop technical documentation for the software, and carry out acceptance tests for the software products. You will be required to provide software support and maintenance, remotely and in person.
Salary offer depends on qualifications and experience in ocean modelling.
