Starting Salary: GBP 24,000 - GBP 27,000 depending upon qualifications
The Role:
Are you an enthusiastic engineer or materials scientist with a background in composites and want to develop innovative and more environmentally friendly commercial solutions for the composite industry?
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer, Composites Engineer or Material Scientist or similar with significant composites experience to work on a joint project under Knowledge Transfer Partnership, between Alan Harper Composites and the University of Plymouth. The key objective of this role is to develop and commercialise a range of innovative composite repair kit solutions that are quick, simple and safe to use in a variety of environments.
The Company:
Based in Saltash in Cornwall, Alan Harper Composites Ltd believe passionately in protecting the environment while providing cost effective and efficient technology for composite moulding. They have developed an economic world-class reusable vacuum closed moulding system that removes permanently the need for costly and environmentally unsound ancillaries and disposal of one-time-use composite consumable waste.
The Candidate:
You will be recently qualified with a good first degree with a minimum 2.1 (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science or similar with significant experience of composite engineering materials and processes. A relevant post-graduate qualification is also desirable. You will be competent in composites processing, control, and mechanical testing. Some evidence of industrial experience is also desirable, particularly if it is related to commercialisation.
Your personal qualities will include: an enthusiasm and passion for creating solutions; a vision to take the system to market; excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to learn quickly with a positive attitude to change.
You will possess excellent analytical skills, be highly motivated and willing to take the project lead. You will need a logical approach to problem solving and a methodical, investigative and inquisitive mind with the ability to report results clearly and concisely.
