You will be working for the consultancy arm, 'CMAR' (Coastal Marine Applied Research - https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/cmar), of the internationally renowned Coastal Processes Research Group at Plymouth University. The group specialise in collecting coastal field data in challenging conditions, and in modelling coastal hazards such as rip currents and coastal flooding.
You will be to support the consultancy activities of CMAR, and will have responsibility for the delivery of field data collection, technical report writing, data processing/analysis, numerical modelling, and continuous development of CMAR's client base under the guidance of CMAR's Lead/senior Investigators.
You will be office based at Plymouth University, but will occasionally be required to assist with field activities such as beach surveying, deploying instrumentation, and nearshore boat work.
* You will have educational attainment at further education level (or demonstrable equivalent experience) in the fields of coastal science/processes, coastal engineering, oceanography, environmental science, or physical geography.* A relevant MSc in the fields of coastal science/processes, coastal engineering, oceanography, environmental science, or physical geography is highly desirable.* You will have experience and competence in at least one of the following areas: field data collection, technical report writing, and data processing/analysis.* Experience with coastal/hydrodynamic modelling is desirable.* You will have experience and competence in at least one of the following skill areas: Matlab programming, GIS software.* You will be confident with liaising with customers face to face/by telephone/by email* You will often be required to work independently and to complete agreed tasks to a high standard within appropriate time scales.* You will be able to prioritise and self-manage.* You will be able to work as part of a team.* You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This is a fixed term position working 37.5 hours per week for a period of 9.5months due to funding.
