The Faculty of Science & Engineering is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive Technician to support the Biological Services Unit(s) (BSU) at our main Plymouth Campus, and in our research facility at Derriford. The units support the teaching and research activity for the School of Biological & Marine Sciences, and for the Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.
You will work closely with technical and academic staff and students, and you will be part of a team that provides key support for the research activities undertaken within the BSU. Your principle duties will be the cleaning and disinfection of animal housing, research laboratories/test rooms and animal unit support facilities. You will be expected to complete all duties to the high standards of cleanliness required by the Health & Safety Executive and the Home Office. Manual handling, including heavy loads, plays an important part of the job.
