The Sustainability Hub: Low Carbon Devon project will provide an exciting new catalyst for low-carbon economic growth in Devon. The -5 year, GBP 2.6m programme (supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) will enable Devon-based organisations to access research, business support, and engage with the University of Plymouth around the low-carbon agenda.
The project will be delivered through 4 interlinked activities:
1) Sustainability Hub Refurbishment: To refurbish a building on University of Plymouth campus that will provide a physical space where businesses, social enterprises and community groups can mix with researchers and students around the issue of sustainability. More information here.
2) Low Carbon Research and Innovation: To support research, innovation and growth within the following sectors in Devon:
* Green wall and roof sector
* Power Electronics (PV & LEDs)
* Creative Industry sector
* Energy Behaviour Change in buildings.
3) Carbon Reduction Project: To bring significant energy savings through delivering an LED lighting retrofit programme in various University buildings.
4) Knowledge Exchange: To support interaction between the University of Plymouth and local Devon-based enterprises through knowledge exchange events, low-carbon internships, and research collaborations across the whole low carbon sector.
The Project Manager post for the Low Carbon Devon project is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and cutting edge University and really make a difference in Devon. You will be involved in working with innovative businesses, world-leading academics, enthusiastic students, dedicated community groups and passionate social enterprises.
Some key duties include:
* Being the prime point of contact for the project as a whole; for individual academics, Devon businesses, social enterprises and community groups.
* Overall responsibility for the delivery of the project; carrying out planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting on the project, ensuring it is delivered on time and in budget.
* Participating in network events, both Low Carbon Sector events and University of Plymouth events, promoting the project and developing potential research collaborations.
* Line Management responsibility for the Low Carbon Administrator, the Monitoring and Evaluation support and the Knowledge Exchange Officer.
* Ensuring the project meets all ERDF compliance requirements - delivering claims with the required evidence.
You must have a good understanding of ERDF funding requirements and a keen interest in supporting a shift to a low carbon economy. You must also have extensive management experience, the ability to build good working relationships, motivate staff and build excellent collaborations.

You must be willing to travel and work at different sites and businesses across Devon.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term until 30 November 2022 due to the nature of the funding.
